Does anyone know who got hit and if they are in a local hospital?

It was a gentleman with a longhaul trucker. He is in a local hospital but unsure which one, he is definitely in rough shape. The bike was absolutely destroyed.

Not to profile based on bike preference, but the news article made it seem as if the cyclist was at fault, perhaps trying to make a dangerous crossing heading the wrong way across that intersection. If the front wheel was in the intersection and the truck hit him turning right from Midland onto Main...

Does anyone else read it that way?

However, since the owner was riding a Surly LHT, it leads me to believe that it was a person with some sense of the rules of the road and how to ride on the streets with traffic. I dunno... maybe that's just me reading too much into it and wanting to find the motorist at fault no matter what based on my bias.

Trying to visualize what happened in my head, I'm willing to bet the cyclist was simply waiting his turn on the right side of the lane, and the truck either did not notice the cyclist waiting there, or did not judge the angle of his turn correctly in order to keep his trailer from hitting said cyclist. This seems like a reasonable scenario to me, and one that would put the driver at fault - not just an accident.

Souded to me like the cyclist was riding on the sidewalk from Elm Tree toward Ransom and stuck his front wheel out too far at the intersection. There are several traffic camera's so it should be easy to determine who is at fault. Hope the cyclist is ok.
