I know there's a picture and some discussion of this in a thread somewhere in the forum, but since it's gotten warm and so many folks are out riding, I think maybe it needs to be revisited.
TONS of people are locking their bikes to those 3ft tall concrete mini-monoliths down by the courthouse/pavillion - especially during Farmers Market and Thursday Night Live. All somebody would have to do is pick one up and roll off-no tools required. Not sure how to spread the word, but we need to be a bit more aware of where we park our rides. And LFUCG needs more parking closer to this area. |

I know... it's frustrating that bike parking always takes a back seat to everything else. It sucks too, that they still haven't put the bike racks back on the newly completed section of Limestone, either - unless they've done it in the past week since I've been over there.
I actually talked with Kenzie Gleason about the Cheapside problem a few weeks back. She's the LFUCG Bike and Pedestrian Coordinator. She told me that they were coming, but she wasn't sure how long it would be. She expressed the same frustration too, but sometimes when you're dealing with the many layers of city government bureaucracy, your hands are tied. _________________ ------------[] O |

I was just down there for the pie contest. The closest rack is on the far side of the museum. Ridiculous.
There was a tandem recumbent with a child trailer chained to a tree. Sort of relevant, and funny looking.
What a very easily stealable bike might look like:
