I've witnessed an unusual rash of people living on or near the S. Ashland area coming into the shop saying their bikes have been stolen out of their garage. All victims have had one bike jacked from their garage while their door has been open, something to the tune of 6 or more incidents in the past couple of weeks. Most people even have two bikes in their garage, but only have one stolen, and the thief(ves?) has been leaving much more expensive items, like complete sets of golf clubs and the like.

If you live in the area, or know anyone who does, keep a heavy lock on your bike, and your door closed; and don't leave any bolt cutters in your garage with your cable-locked bike.

There's also a lot of houses around this area that have those little "carport" style garages that don't really have doors on them, and are essentially just three walls and a roof... I'm always amazed at the amount of people who leave valuables unlocked and unattended in those things and it's usually bikes.

No matter what neighborhood you live in, there are always people looking to steal shit from you if they can, so don't give them the opportunity!
