The best thing about that statement is the "beyond minimum requirements" line.

If you've been keeping up with other bike issues of the past week (I'm doing my part to get caught up on our Facebook page), you may have seen this

So, how does that relate to Greg's article and more importantly, Lexington? Well, if you follow this link and listen to the March 19th show with Lance Armstrong - where he responds to the incident above, you'll hear Lance mention Lexington as an example of American cities that are building new bike facilities along with new road construction (around the 6:15 mark). Mentioned in the same context with Portland, no less!

I can't say our city has been any sort of standard for this up to this point (anyone remember our Vine Street protest ride?), but at least things are definitely changing for the better. Hopefully with this new policy mandate, all this will really start to catch on in the next few years.
