Hopefully, the subject line of this was clear enough to warn off folks who aren't interested.

So, as to how to join this racing team I'm trying to get started.

It's pretty easy, actually. At the most basic level, you just tell the BCC Racing Committee Chair--that's me, right now--that you want to be on the team. Simplest way? Send me an e-mail at racing@bgcycling.net.

Beyond that, you should to go through this checklist.

(1) Make sure you're a currently active member of the BCC. It happens to be dues renewal time right now, actually.

(2) It's a lawyer's world. You'll need to download this waiver, fill it out, and send it to me at Christopher Rowe, 439 North Upper Street, Lexington KY 40508-1450. I'll keep a copy and make one for the club secretary.

(3) Anybody in the club can be on the team, everybody on the team is a member of the club. So, our uniform is the most current club jersey. They'll be available for order on the home page soon. Don't expect them to be pretty. But you can see them from a long way away.

(4) Since the club is paying the bill for our membership in USA Cycling and generously providing funding for the race we're required to promote (and may do other cool stuff, too, depending on the level of interest) we need to show our appreciation by volunteering some hours for BCC activities beyond the racing stuff. Be prepared to help out for a few hours with the Horsey or Red River Rally, donate some time to one of our charitable events, lead some A rides (those are slowish rides for newish riders out in the country). Y'know, be cool.

(5) Speaking of USA Cycling, if you're planning on racing above the beginners Cat 4 Women/Cat 5 Men level (that would be my level), you're going to need a racing license. Actually, if you're going to race at those levels more than once it makes fiscal sense to go ahead and get an annual license at sixty bucks, since the cost of one-day licenses add up pretty quick. Check out the USA Cycling site and consider joining up. When you do, choose the Bluegrass Cycling Club as your club.

And there you go. It should take you less time to do that stuff than it took you to read this post.

I would join, but it seems that the UKY team and the BGC team will be competing in the same races, and I gotta rep the cats, yo.

So when I am keeping my mileage stats do I also write down how many miles I had to drive my bike to ride it? What happens when my driving miles cancel out my biking miles do I lose points?

Just want to make sure I get it right before I join.

Don't ask me, hoss. I ride my bike out to BCC rides and don't really care about mileage stats. There's more that unites than divides us.

And yet another print maker forgets that he's typing out loud. Get a chatroom, boys.

Now's when I should mention my theory that Alex isn't in Japan at all. He's hiding in his basement posting on here out of boredom. He may or may not be chained to a radiator wearing underpants and a half-shirt.

I feel I should point out that chaining, basements, and half-shirts don't actually have anything to do with the BCC Racing Team, which is populated EXCLUSIVELY (so far, anyay), by forward thinking feminist Bike Wranglers.
