Skateboard and BMX riders can try out park

Lexington’s skateboard and BMX riders will have a chance to test drive a portable skateboard park on Saturday. The event, open to the public, will be held 12-3 p.m. at the roller hockey rink at Masterson Station Park.

The city’s Division of Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the American Ramp Company, is making it possible for skaters and BMX riders to sample a smaller version of a portable skate facility Parks is considering purchasing.

The portable park is able to be moved from park to park and would supplement the extreme skate park facility at Woodland Park.

The event is free and will include music, contests and giveaways. Participants must sign a waiver and wear a helmet. Riders under 18 must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver.
