Thanks to everyone who came to the big dance!
We had some fabulous costumes and fun participants. It was truly hard for the panel of fashionistas to decide the best-dressed riders. Thankfully we have many photographs that document this magical night. We also have some great stories from the stops, especially the spin the bottle stop that we'll add here as we get them.
The numbers!
We had 144 riders that raised $720 for the Living Arts and Science Center. Our local sponsors committed $600. All of this money goes to the Center's programs, such as science and art classes for youth and adults.
The thanks!
This prom would not have happened without the support of the local businesses who offered checkpoints and sponsored this event. The checkpoints were: Third Street Stuff, Sidebar, Molly Brookes, Soundbar, Zag's Boutique and Art Gallery, the Hive, CD Central, and January.
Our sponsors were: Third Street Stuff, Sidebar, Molly Brookes, CD Central, the Morris Bookshop, Bluegrass Sotheby's, PedalPower, Cricket Press, and outrageGIS mapping.
A monumental thanks should be given to the Living Arts and Science Center, Heather Lyons (the executive director) and the staff for making sure registration went off perfectly. About a dozen volunteers from the Board of Directors helped build the balloon arch, operate checkpoints, DJ, decorate, and loan audio equipment for the afterparty.
A special thanks to Jim Shambu for being the official photographer and the March Madness Marching Band for kicking off the race with one hell of a display!
The memories!
Below are some links to photos and stuff. Please feel free to add what you know! There's a bunch of stuff on Facebook...but that's not too public I believe.
